When is the Next Day Without Shoes??

Coming up soon! April 8, 2011. Let's all start planning events around the world, get involved!

Post ideas or events that you plan to run and stay tuned to see what events TOM's is planning and how you can participate!!

Day Without Shoes

TOMS Shoes hosts a Day Without Shoes every year to promote awareness for their mission. The event urges people around the world to endure rocky pavement and unfavorable conditions without shoes as a tangible way for people to make a bold statement for the millions of children who go shoeless everyday.

Since it was created, TOMS Shoes has donated more than 600,000 pairs of shoes, with the goal of reaching the one-million mark by 2012.

We're making great strides with our mission to spread awareness and promote involvement. At our last Day Without Shoes (4/8/2010) we had 1/4 million who pledged their support and over 1,600 people who hosted events around the world from Venice to Little Rock, Dubai to London!

TOM's Mission: One for One

The mission is to increase awareness of this philanthropic organization whose heart lies in the health of others and in doing so, providing shoes to prevent disease. TOMS Shoes is also focused on educating key publics on health issues as well as raising awareness of their philanthropic objectives. The mission for TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need.

One for One.

Tell Me About the Actual Shoes

The product TOMS Shoes is styled after the Argentinean Alpargata shoe, which was originally designed after the shoes worn mostly by farmers, or the “common people.” This ultra lightweight shoe averages at about $38 per pair. This simplistic design had established itself as a fashionable way to support a charity. The irony is when this humble shoe on the foot of our most highly praised celebrities on red carpets, fashion runways, and being "guest designed" by the great Ralph Lauren for his Rugby collection.

So What is TOM's Shoes Anyway?

We at TOM'S shoes want to share a little about our mission and explain where our idea of Day Without Shoes originated:

TOMS Shoes is a philanthropic organization focused on giving a pair of shoes to children in need. TOMS Shoes began in 2006 via small business owner, Blake Mycoskie. After a trip to Argentina, Blake Mycoskie was inspired to give shoes to the children in need. Many children in developing countries grow up barefoot. A leading cause of disease in these countries is soil-transmitted diseases, which can penetrate the skin through bare feet. Wearing shoes can help prevent these diseases. This spontaneous, charitable desire is fundamentally different from other philanthropic models, for TOMS Shoes is built on the most simplistic model: One for One. For every pair of Argentinean Alpargata styled shoe bought, TOMS Shoes matches it and donates it to a child in Argentina.
